Babu, This One's For You

I mention Babu from time to time in these pages. I could not condense Babu into a few sentences, or even a few books; but two interesting things about Babu are that he luuuurves St. Bernards and that he won on Jeopardy, twice. So, this short photo essay is for him.

First, a St. Bernard living just behind the Capitol:

Then, in the National Gallery of Art at the Pompeii exhibit, a replica of the Cave Canem mosaic. Babu won on Jeopardy by correctly identifying this:

I adore Babu, but $21.95 was just too steep. Also, the St. Bernard canems live with Babu's mother, who runs the last stop on the Texas Pet Underground Railroad. (Seriously, if you are really good in this life, you come back as one of her pets.) Babu himself lives with a blogging cat, Xena. Cave Canem just wouldn't have the same ring to it at his house; however, I might not have been able to resist a Cave Catem* tile.

*Yeah, I know, not Latin for "cat;" but it alliterates.
