I Write Like a Misogynist Dude -- and Gertrude Stein

Based on the "Life Off" post:

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Which is cool. Maybe.

Based on "People Say I'm Crazy, and Threw My Life Away":

I write like
Dan Brown

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

That sorta sucks, and happened twice, too. Although, I wouldn't mind his income.

Based on the end of "Savannah, Day 1":

I write like
Kurt Vonnegut

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

That is AWESOME! Except I doubt that Vonnegut ever used "awesome" in his writing, or at least in the way I just used it.

"Monsters Escape from Boxes" means

I write like
Gertrude Stein

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I'm not sure about that one. I usually aim for "Joan Didion" when I use repetition. At least Stein was experimental. And a girl.

"The Jerk from Christmas" means that:

I write like
William Gibson

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I have no idea who he is. Is this good or bad? He came up on a couple of other tries, too.

I ran several more posts through the software, sure that Flannery O'Connor would come up on something. Instead, I came to the conclusion that, aside from Gertrude Stein, either the programmers don't have girl authors included in their little game or I write like misogynist dudes.

William Gibson's pretty good, as a popular writer. He's probably what you would get if you crossed Dashiell Hammett with Star Trek--noir space opera. He's not fabulous to women, but he's highly readable.

I saw an interview with the person who wrote the site; I'd be surprised if he knew who O'Connor was.

I like ALL your people! Especially Gertrude Stein... ;)

Gibson's sort of the father of the cyberpunk genre.

I plugged in a blog post once, and three paragraphs of academic writing at another, and got David Foster Wallace both times. Too many semicolons?

Have you seen this? It's a round up of several other articles on this generator.

Hmmm... I got Dan Brown (not sure I'm pleased with this one, though I agree about the income); David Foster Wallace (who I have never heard of); and George Orwell (Um.)

Very interesting breakdown at Shakesville. The bias of the sample doesn't surprise me at all. I do admit to being tickled that Margaret Atwood was included in the selection, and that she pinged as herself (I'm a Canadian, and a fan, what can I say?)

i ran it only once. if i'd done a happier post perhaps it would've come up with a different author from one who killed himself. oh well.

I got HP Lovecraft (who I admit I had never heard of until I then wiki-ed him) for every post I put and even for a chapter of my book. So it seems I am nothing if not consistent.
