Miscellaneous Sightings

I'm both behind on posts that I intended to write over the past month or so, and fresh out of ideas to write at the moment. So, I've backtracked. These are some things that I saw about the Connecticut River Valley after the Little Berks and before I began research.

Did you know that Northampton is home to the Beer Can Museum?:

Sadly, it was not open at noon on a Sunday. And Northampton considers itself a college town, too!

Here we have the restaurant Sylvester's, located in the home of Sylvester Graham:

I wanted to see the inside, but didn't want to buy a meal, so I used the restroom, which just so happened to coincide with other necessities of the moment. I figured that Graham himself might approve, since he seemed a bit fixated on keeping the body's systems clean (or something of that sort). The restaurant was so good as to have a historic picture posted:

Over in Amherst, a group protested the war:

According to this sign, they are there every Sunday:

Keep it up, you guys!

Who lived in Amherst? Well, Emily Dickinson, of course! Duh! Much as in Sylvester's, the Emily Dickinson House museum used the bathroom as an opportunity for historical education, too.

Here they show you just where Emily Dickinson took care of necessary business in the house: Turns out, it wasn't too far from where visitors can take care of business, too.

OMG I love the historic interpretation in the loo!!!! Brilliant. And, you can probably go a little more text heavy, as people may take a bit more time lol
