Heigh-Ho

Kermit the Frog, here:
A younger Kermie here:
With his original gang of muppets:
Just some gratuitous muppetry from my last visit to the Smithsonian. They are doing a better job with their pop culture collection.

Meanwhile, I am going to have to build my stamina back up for teaching. Yesterday was the first day and I was so exhausted I went to sleep at 9 pm. My grandparents -- heck, my great-grandparents -- didn't even do that. I only stayed up until 9 in order to finish a novel, and I almost had to use toothpicks to hold my eyes open even for that. Ah well, champagne problems, right?

Was the original Kermit originally brown, or did he fade? Inquiring minds want to know. If the former, he presumably couldn't sing "it's not easy being green," in which case I'm not sure he was really Kermit.

The older Kermit seemed a little faded, but he was still in the green area of the spectrum if only barely. So he could probably get away with "it's not easy being green." In fact, this might prove that being green is not easy because he had to work his way up from a light olive to his familiar bright green.
